Adventure activities on this trip include - Descending 2-3 world class canyons this trip, Bungee off a bridge over a river, Kayaking in a world famous fjord, hiking and sightseeing that will leave you breathless. In addition to visiting the locations near our adventures we will explore locations like Christchurch and Queenstown on our rest days. We will select the canyon based on weather and water flow, so we can not guarantee which canyons we will descend in advance.
After a long day or two of travelling we will need to get re-balanced and acclimated to our new location. We'll take advantage of this time to get to know the land a bit better by exploring the beautiful town of Christchurch. We will get to know why it is called the "Garden City" . There are many excellent dining options for us to explore and get a taste of New Zealand on our first day here before we head off to the eastern side of the South Island later on this day.
We'll head towards the mountains of Makarora on an eco-adventure into the unspoiled forest as we hike up the hills to descend our first canyon. We'll jump, slide and rappel our way down numerous waterfalls up to 100 ft tall as we are blown away by the natural beauty of the land. When we finish up the canyon we will take some time to journey through the glacially carved valley and admire the amazing color of the blue pools.
After our first day of canyoning the group will be chomping at the bit to get back out and play some more! We will head further in the direction of Haast to find a canyon with even bigger waterfalls and deeper gorges. It will be deep, it will be dark, and we will love it. We'll take the whole day to descend this canyon and another in the area, so we can expect to be exhausted.
We are going to use this day as a recovery day but that doesn't mean we aren't still going to have a blast! Today we will get to Bungee Jump off a bridge over a river! This is definitely an exciting experience and a thrill of a lifetime in an amazing setting. To keep the day relaxing we will stroll the amazing town of Queenstown which sits on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and experience what the town has to offer.
We will be heading down to the world famous Fjordland National Park. On our way we will take the opportunity to traverse and delve into the South Island even more than we have so far. We will enjoy the mountains, lakes, and rivers on our way to the town of Te Anau.
Have you ever wanted to get out on a huge body of water surrounded by majestic peaks with cascading waterfalls? On this day we will do just that, we'll take a motorized boat out to be dropped of in the middle of the fjord and we will get to kayak our way back to land as we enjoy the amazing scenery of Milford Sound.
We will start to make our way back to Christchurch; taking a different route this time, so we can experience the east coast of the island. There are beaches, quaint towns, and penguins along the way. Making an enjoyable return journey back to where it all started.
Our final day where we say goodbye. We will depart and head to the Christchurch Airport for those that are departing the country or we'll drop you off at a predetermined location based on where your next adventure takes you.
